The Waxing Quarter, hailing from East Lothian in Scotland, began life as a collaboration of multi-instrumentalist songwriters and producers John Ferguson, Iain Bruce and Liam Clark. With 2025’s eponymous debut album under their belt, the trio expanded their ranks in pursuit of fully-fledged and uncompromised live performance.

With the addition of bassist Lyndsey Punton and drummer John Gurney, the project has shifted gears, evolving into a powerful 5-piece outfit. Live dates are on the horizon, and a steady stream of new material is flowing.

Thematically, the music draws inspiration from the world it inhabits, and the people (and ghosts) caught up in its orbit. The result is an epic and unforgettable journey into the joy and pain of love, heartbreak and healing; the loss of what we never really had; the dream of what could have been; the acceptance and celebration of what is and what could still be - if we want it enough.

Underpinned by timeless and elegant songwriting, nuanced with a modern and atmospheric aesthetic that will keep you guessing, it’s a dynamic and reassuring presence that welcomes you in. At the same time mournful and uplifting, The Waxing Quarter mine the depths of human emotion to find enlightenment, optimism and closure.
